2-Hour Asbestos Awareness Training – Register Now!

IEA is hosting a virtual Asbestos Awareness Training on April 16 from 8-10am.

AHERA Training: a 2-Hour Awareness (One-Time Training)

Asbestos awareness training is required by AHERA and focuses on identifying asbestos containing material (ACM) and minimizing the hazards associated with working in areas where asbestos may be present.   It is designed for maintenance and custodial staff who will not directly handle asbestos material but may encounter it in the routine course of their work.   Employees who could potentially come in contact with ACM should be given appropriate training on where these materials may be found in a building and proper procedures for working safely around these materials.

  • Information regarding asbestos and its various uses and forms
  • Information as the health effects associated with asbestos exposure
  • Locations of identified ACBM
  • Recognition of damage, deterioration, and delamination
  • Information on district’s Designated Person and the availability and location of the management plan

The two-hour awareness training is required upon hire and an asbestos awareness refresher is required annually (typically a condensed version that is given with other annual safety trainings).
